“Hello Strephon,
I read and use your Jungian-Senoi Dreamwork Manual and have a set of your dream cards. I visit your dream website. You have been very important in my life.
My husband Kobus had his prostate removed in 1998 at the age of 65 due to cancer. Full recovery followed. Kobus took a tumble in January 2008 at the age of 75 resulting in a broken hand. Diagnosis: extensive metastatic prostate cancer. The doctors wanted to do aggressive radiation/chemo and told us he would have a very painful 3-6 months of life without it. Kobus, being true to who he is, said NO WAY. I have outlived my life expectancy, the charts and my own, and so I will let nature take its course. We went home with a cast on his hand which shortly healed the broken bone and we were determined to live the 3-6 months as fully as the disease would allow.
My husband's only fear in all of this was PAIN, the docs were so dire. We contacted a lovely hospice that specializes in at home deaths for the comfort of knowing that pain meds and support would be at our fingertips. Our hospice nurse visits once a week as required by medicare, and always visits at wine time to share a glass as she takes his blood pressure and tells a story. After all of the intensity of the first weeks of diagnosis, we settled into life once again.
Well, here we are, 15 months later, pain meds are not needed, life is sweet and death the next adventure. I have learned a lot from my husband about being who you are.
Loving What Is by Byron Katie has also brought us great peace on this journey.
Grateful to you for your work,” by Pepper Van Beest
