Night Wisdom – How God Acts In The Little Things

Issues: … peeing in public … intruding on people … God at work in little things … synchronicity … awareness and action … meaningful coincidence …

How does God act in the little things?

If you are me you look for direct evidence in experience that God as a non-ego and non ego directed force for meaning is acting in the direct experience of your life.

  • God is the non ego-directed, intentional force for purposeful action and meaning operating in everyday experience.

God is not some great celestial bird high in the sky making all us earthlings wonder when such magnificence is going to transcend to miserable earth and what will possibly happen then?

Synchronicity is the best evidence in experience for God, that force greater than, and other than, ego that affects events happening now showing Intention itself at work in my life and yours.

I think you can agree with me that when this happens for you it evokes awe, the recognition of the numinous at work in life.

Life without God might still be good for most people. But when a decisive shift carrying out some value happens then don’t you get a sense that some spiritual force is at work by your side at least sometimes?

An Incident

Today I woke around five AM, yes, I also had two naps later, and when dressed, went outside. The Netherlands Four-Day-March was happeningĀ  in our area. You could hear the loud noise from Bus main speakers and peoples voices. They did not care that it was only 6 AM and people need their sleep. Thousands come to Nijmegen each year to do this silly March and disturb people.

What I object to is their imposing noise and mess onto most of our living areas surrounding Nijmegen along the routes established.

These marchers piss in the streets and lawns of where people live, play loud music from electronic devices, throw trash on the side of the road and in the street, and stop a lot of traffic, so much so that businesses and inhabitants can hardly operate during the days of their local, tramping intensity.

As I walked outside my door up the path to the community sidewalk and street a man down the way faced a garden bush in male urination position. He saw me also and I strenuously waved him off saying, no-no! He seemed to stop then, lift himself a little as his ‘zip-up,’ and go back to the march route.

The ‘God-Lessons’ I learn from this are as follows:

  1. God acts in the moments of everyday experiences.
  2. God acts as synchronicity, as meaningful coincidence. Meaningful coincidence here is that at the precise time in the early morning that I go out into our public area there is a young man going to pee in someone’s garden.
  3. I see him. He sees me. He faces the garden bushes as a way of believing that no one can see him so he won’t be embarrassed.
  4. I act when the moment is ripe. I perceive the unplanned for and unintended connection in the moment and act appropriately upon it.

The God Challenge

God as synchronicity says through this experience, I do not give you, Strephon, the power to stop this whole silly march that outsiders do, imposing year after year on the local residents, the more than half of whom do not like the trash, the pee smell, the noise and the disruption. But I do give you, says Synchronicity, a small but real incident to act on. Let’s see how in tune you are?

  • I have had a number of these incidents presented to me in life and sometimes acted upon them. I have trained myself to perceive the coincidences of the moment and act on the significant ones.

Thus I was already thinking about the issue, not getting angry over it, since I am not allowed to get involved with controversy that stresses me out. But a simple sweet moment arrived. I recognized its significance and I acted.

Awareness plus action equals true consciousness.

Consciousness is not just some sort of super awareness, maybe drug or meditation induced.

Consciousness is awareness plus right action.

There is no true knowledge without committed action to follow.

Did I do okay? What do you think?

Outrageous?

The Big Task

Do you also have the courage and make the commitment to follow your intuition and act on the synchronicities happening before your eyes?

It‘s not the content really but the meaningful action that you can create.

See that uncomfortable young, adult male zipping in his urinate hose again and holding his bladder full until he finds an appropriate place to pee.

Maybe he learned in his personal ego that ‘Someone is watching, and that you are accountable for your behavior?

What do you think?

I made known that he was being watched, signaling not to do his pee behavior. He rapidly walked away.

That was the experience of the day for him.

Maybe mine as well …
